Polyester shirts or cotton shirts. Does the fabric really makes a difference? Yes, it does. There are many who prefer just cotton, but cheaper polyester is also tempting, isn’t it? People may think that the lower cost of polyester means a lower quality product, but that isn’t necessarily the case. It all depends on case to case.
The easiest way to make a comparison is to know the nature of the fibers in question. Cotton is a natural fabric and then processed into a fiber before it is woven. Polyester undergoes through lots of chemicals that are blended together to make a fiber. In simple language, cotton is a natural fabric whereas polyester is man made or artificial fabric.
Now, when we come to the point which is more preferred fabric, it definitely is cotton because of its many advantages. Cotton is considered as one of the softest fabric to the skin as it is very breathable and keeps body cool and stable. On the other hand, polyester is abrasive to the skin. It isn't that skin friendly as we know, its processing involves a lot of chemicals. Even though, it gets dried faster and requires minimal ironing, it can cause reactions to the skin. Especially, during summers, when men tend to sweat a lot, polyester t shirt and shirts becomes un wearable as they don't soak water much as compared to cotton. Cotton has a fantastic property of soaking water up to three times of its weight, making it the best choice of fabric in summers.
